The Commonwealth of Dominica is a Caribbean republic with a parliamentary democracy. The capital city is Roseau and the population is approximately 73,500. Dominica’s official language is English, although French Patois is also spoken. The local currency is the East Caribbean dollar, which is pegged to the United States dollar.

Dominica, island country of the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It lies between the French islands of Guadeloupe and Marie-Galante to the north and Martinique to the south. Dominica is not the same as the Dominican Republic. Both are independent countries with their own entity, and although they are from the Caribbean countries, Dominica lies in the Windward islands between the Carribean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, halfway between Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago.  The Dominican Republic however is located in Island of Hispaniola in the Greater Antilles.
